What. A. Month.

Honduras is in the books, and let me tell you, it was one heck of an experience. God put my squad through a very tough month physically, from countless days of carrying roughly 70 lbs of wood for over a mile through the hilly landscape of the jungle, to sleeping in tents during the rainy season on popped sleeping pads after taking ice cold showers if the water was running, to constructing a new part of the church we were building back at our campsite. I am beat. But in all honesty, it was all worth it to meet the incredible people in this community as well as to host a VBS for all the kids in the area (over 100) and to see the looks of joy on their face when they were playing tug of war or beating the snot out of a piñata. I’m very thankful I was able to be here.

This month I was able to work with an incredible organization called Catracho Missions, lead by Pastor Paul Steer. Their mission is for the gospel to reach everone. Paul and other pastors conduct leadership and pastoral training for believers in order to help them reach others in their communities, and they do this training in the context and culture of each place they are in. They try to transform generations for Christ by training believers where they live and allowing them to continue to impact their communities. Right now they are doing this in a community located in a National Park right outside of Comayagua, Honduras. It’s been an honor to be a part of the meetings our ministry host, Paul, has set up with leaders of multiple surrounding communities. We’ve been able to preach to them, which has opened doors for us to go into those communities and preach to them about the Gospel. Catracho Missions is not only focused on the spiritual well-being of the communities, but the physical as well by providing funds, time, and resources to help the communities get water over the long term and by reforestation efforts to help the jungle they are in, which was damaged after the most recent hurricane. I can really tell that they care so much about the people and the mountain they are working with, and if your heart feels drawn to donate to them, their link can be found below.

Up next, my team is going to Penshurt, Costa Rica to work with The Master’s Workshop, a nonprofit organization training leaders to help people in their native communities grow spiritually and emotionally through discipleship, sustainability, and replication. I’m not totally sure what we’ll be doing there, but I do know we’ll be working with people struggling with addiction at a branch of Teen Challenge. I’m very excited to see how the Lord moves in this next month. Your prayers are always appreciated.

God bless,

Colton

  1. It looks amazing Brother! You are doing some great work over there. Praying that God keep you all safe and healthy.

BTW…Cold showers sound brutal, but, I hear they are good for your health!

  2. Your first three words said it all: “What. A. Month.” We’re so proud of K Squad and how all of you pressed through, worked hard, and showed the love of Jesus in such tangible ways to the people on that mountain. And I love these words, too: “I am very thankful I was able to be here.” So thankful for you!

  3. Sounds like that mountain lived up to its reputation for amazing, hard, beautiful and important lessons. I’m so proud of K-squad for loving the people in that area so well. God will certainly leverage all you’ve done for His kingdom.
Thanks for the photos, too. Seeing the smiles makes me miss y’all even more.
